Dzyush Beds Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Along the village of Dzhyush, southern slope of the N. Nuratau ridge. S.K. Piven, I.A. Kim, 1980 (165, p. 48). Stratotype located on the watershed between the Abartkan and Ishkap streams.
Synonym: Dzhyush Layers, Дзюшские сл., Dzhus Slates, Dzhus Beds
Lithology and Thickness
Frequently interbedded siltstones and calcareous sandstones. Thickness: 40 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Along the bedding, they lie on the limestone layers of the Aidynsay Beds Fm
Upper contact
The upper boundary, due to discontinuous disturbances, is not established.
Regional extent
Northern Nuratau ridge, Merishkor Mountain, two sublatitudinal strips in the basin of the Say Abartkan and between the springs Chashma-Zrak and Shaly. Dzyush Beds Fm belong to the Kurgan Horizon and are an analogue of the upper part of the Abartkan Beds Fm.

Contains graptolites – Neodiversograptus nilssoni (Barr.), Monograptus ex gr. uncinatus Tullb., Pristiograptus Dubius(Suess.), Saetograptus (Colonograptus) colonus Barr.; trilobites - Kosovopeltis cf. crebristiota (Lindstr.), Prionopeltis striatus striatus H. et C., Scharia ex gr. Micropyga H. et C.; brachiopods - Conchidium lajlakense Nikif.
